Phoolan 'killer' saves Prithviraj Chauhan!
NEW DELHI, APRIL 25: Phoolan Devi murder case prime accused Sher Singh Rana, who was arrested by the Delhi police from Kolkata today, has come up with a bizarre story on his whereabouts after his escape from Tihar jail two years ago. He has told his interrogators he had gone to Afghanistan to “redeem India’s honour” and had brought back “ashes of Prithviraj Chauhan”.
While history records the 12th century Delhi ruler’s defeat in the Second Battle of Tarain in 1192 by Muhammad of Ghori,
the story goes that Chauhan was taken away to Afghanistan where he died. And it is this, Rana claims, he set out to “correct” when he fled Tihar jail.
Rana told his interrogators he posed as a Pakistani in Afghanistan and visited Kandahar,
Herat before making it to Ghazni. “He says his only other ambition, besides killing Phoolan Devi, was to get back Prithiviraj Chauhan’s ashes to India,” said a top Delhi police official.
He has told police he obtained a visa for Afghanistan from Bangladesh on the basis of a fake passport he got made in Ranchi. He claims he landed in Kabul in January last year.
Rana claims he located the grave in a village named Devak in Ghazni district. “He says he was taken hostage by the villagers but during his stay there, sometime in March 2005, he dug 12 feet into the grave believed to be of Chauhan’s and got the ashes. He then fled from the village,” said an official.
Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul said Rana claims he reached Dhaka and sent the “ashes” by courier to his contact in UP. “We believe even a samadhi has been made with the ashes somewhere in eastern UP,” said another official. this happend smewher in April 2006.........the article was published in the financial xpress.....net edition...
I hope this news is true...But I dont think Sher Singh was able to bring Prithvi's ashes bck!! I wouldnt believe it until the Indian government confirms it
