Leander Paes of India won his 11th GRAND SLAM title yesterday...pairing up with Cara Black of Zimbabwe to DEMOLISH their opponents. They were ranked #1 in the event at this year's AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2010. Congratulations to Leander. He's a joy to watch, and glad I recorded the match which I just NOW finished watching. He has won 6 MEN'S DOUBLES titles at the Grand Slam Events, and yesterday's title was the 5th MIXED DOUBLES title. He has appeared himself in more than 10 other GRAND SLAM FINALS (for either MEN'S DOUBLES OR MIXED DOUBLES)...making him one of the most SUCCESSFUL tennis players EVER IN THE HISTORY of the sport. As an INDIVIDUAL, he has ONLY WON ONE tournament as a single's player Oh yes, this feat might not be repeated again, but he also won a BRONZE MEDAL for India at the 1996 OLYMPIC GAMES. |
